CPSC, Answer Products Inc. Announce Recall of Bicycle Components

Is my product affected?

Answer and Manitou brand bicycle forks

  • Brand Answer Products Inc., of Valencia, Calif.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Answer Products Inc. and the CPSC have recalled certain 2000 model bicycle forks because the tube connecting the fork to the bicycle can fail, causing riders to lose control and fall. The affected forks were sold under the Answer and Manitou brand names and have been installed on more than 30 bicycle models, including those made by Specialized, Klein, Jamis, and Marin. You can identify a recalled fork by looking for "ANSWER" or "MANITOU" printed on the side of the fork and checking the model name on the front—the Answer BMX models affected are the Carbo Pro and Mag Pro, while the Manitou mountain bike models are the Mars and X-Vert Super.

According to the recall notice, consumers should immediately stop riding bicycles with these forks and take them to an authorized Answer Products dealer, where they will receive a free inspection and repair.
