  • Brand Kash 'N Gold Ltd., of Ronkonkoma, N.Y.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Kent International is recalling Kickin' Mini-Scooters because the handlebar clamp holding the handles to the steering column can loosen, causing the handles to come out unexpectedly and riders to lose control and fall. These scooters have a black plastic platform about 15 inches long, 4-inch translucent wheels, and feature a "KICKIN' MINI SCOOTER" decal on the steering column. Kash 'N Gold is recalling Racer X20™ model scooters because the plastic "T" joint connecting the handlebars can break, also causing riders to lose control and fall. These scooters have a 20-inch aluminum platform with translucent wheels and are available in silver with blue, green, red, orange, or clear wheels.

If you own a recalled Kent scooter, you should stop riding it immediately and call Kent International to receive a free replacement handlebar with pins to secure it. If you own a recalled Kash 'N Gold scooter, you should stop riding it immediately and return it to the store where you purchased it for either a refund or a replacement scooter with a metal "T" joint.

Hazard

The Kent scooter handles can unexpectedly come out of the steering column if the clamp holding them in is not tight, causing the rider to lose control, fall and possibly suffer injuries. For the Kash 'N Gold scooters, the plastic "T" joint between the handlebars can break, causing the rider to lose control, fall and possibly suffer injuries.

What should I do?

Kent: Consumers should stop riding these Kent scooters immediately, and call Kent International to receive a free replacement handlebar with pins to secure the handlebars. Kash 'N Gold: Consumers should stop riding these scooters immediately, and return them to the store where purchased for a refund or a new scooter with a metal "T" joint.
