Emerson Motor Co. is recalling Dayton brand motors due to a shock and electrocution hazard. If these motors are not properly grounded according to instructions, they can become energized and pose a risk of injury or death. The recalled motors are used in various applications including carbonation machines and commercial fans, and include model numbers 6K361B, 6K804B, and 5K887D&E with manufacturing numbers MK99C through MG00C (from years 1999–2000). The model and manufacturing numbers can be found on the nameplate attached to the side of the motor.
If you own one of the recalled motors, you should unplug it immediately and remove it from service, then contact the Dayton Motor Hotline for repair information. The manufacturer has already sent notices to known purchasers.
