Is my product affected?

Maytag® and Jenn-Air® brand dishwashers

  • Brand Maytag Corp., of Newton, Iowa

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Maytag and Jenn-Air are recalling certain under-counter and portable dishwashers with plastic tubs because liquid rinse-aid can leak from its dispenser and contact the dishwasher's internal wiring. This short circuit can ignite, creating a fire hazard. The recalled models include Maytag MDB3, MDB4, MDB5, MDB6, MDB7, MDB8, MDB9, MDBD, MDC3, MDC4, MDC5, and DWU9, as well as Jenn-Air JDB3, JDB4, JDB5, JDB6, and JDB7, available with black, white, almond, bisque, or stainless steel front panels. Serial numbers must end with specific letter combinations to be included in the recall.

According to the recall notice, affected consumers should immediately stop using their dishwashers and disconnect the electric supply by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker. Consumers should inform all users about the fire risk. To remedy the problem, Maytag will provide either a free in-home repair or a $75 cash back reimbursement toward the purchase of a new Maytag, Jenn-Air, Whirlpool, or KitchenAD dishwasher. Consumers should contact Maytag to confirm whether their dishwasher is included in the recall and should not return the unit to the retailer.
