Is my product affected?

Polaris Snowmobiles

  • Brand Polaris Industries Inc., of Medina, Minn.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Polaris Industries is recalling certain 2005 and 2006 snowmobile models because the fuel tank filler neck can crack or separate from the fuel tank. When this happens, fuel or fuel vapors may leak out, which creates a fire hazard. The affected models include all 2005 900 Fusion, 900 RMK, and 900 Switchback snowmobiles, as well as select 2006 models including 600HO and 900 Fusion, RMK, and Switchback models, plus FS and FST Classic, Touring, and Switchback variants. Consumers can identify their snowmobile's model number using the VIN decal on the right side of the tunnel underneath the seat.

Consumers who own affected snowmobiles should stop using them immediately. Polaris has directly notified registered owners about the recall, and the remedy involves installing a fuel neck reinforcement kit. Affected consumers should contact their Polaris snowmobile dealer to schedule an appointment for the installation.

Hazard

The fuel tank filler neck on these snowmobiles can crack. A crack in the filler neck area may cause the filler neck to separate from the fuel tank. A crack or filler neck separation may allow fuel or fuel vapors to escape from the fuel tank, posing a fire hazard.

What should I do?

Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately. Polaris has notified registered affected consumers directly about this recall. Contact your Polaris snowmobile dealer to schedule an appointment for the fuel neck reinforcement kit installation.
