What happened

Lenovo and IBM are recalling lithium-ion batteries sold with or separately for ThinkPad notebook computers, including T Series (T43, T43p, T60, T60p), R Series (R51e, R52, R60, R60e), and X Series (X60, X60s) models. The batteries can overheat and pose a fire hazard. Consumers can identify recalled batteries by checking the label on their battery for specific part or model numbers: ASM P/N 92P1072, 92P1088, 92P1142, 92P1170, 92P1174, FRU P/N 92P1073, 92P1089, 92P1141, 92P1169, 93P5028, 92P1173, or 93P5030.

According to the recall notice, consumers should immediately stop using the recalled batteries and contact Lenovo to receive a replacement battery at no charge. Until a replacement arrives, consumers can continue using their computer by turning off the system, removing the battery, and connecting the AC adapter and power cord.
