Is my product affected?

Robertshaw R110 Series Gas Control Valves

  • Brand Robertshaw Controls Co., of Long Beach, Calif.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Robertshaw Controls Co. is recalling R110 Gas Control Valves installed on natural and liquid propane gas water heaters from multiple manufacturers including Rheem, Ruud, Bradford White, GE, Whirlpool, and others. The valves were manufactured between July 25, 2005 and August 14, 2005 with production date codes 5-31 through 5-33, though not all valves with these date codes are affected. Screws on some of these valves can break, potentially causing gas to leak from the valve and creating a risk of gas explosion and fire.

Consumers who believe they may have an affected water heater should visit http://www.icca.invensys.com/robertshaw/recallarchive.htm with their water heater's model and serial number (found on the manufacturer's label) to determine if their unit is affected. Robertshaw will arrange for free repair or replacement if necessary. If you smell gas near the appliance or in the building, you should immediately leave the area and call your gas company or a certified gas technician to investigate.
