DOLMAR Power Products, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, is recalling PS6400 and PS7900 model chain saws because their flywheels may come apart during use, potentially causing serious personal injury. The recall affects chain saws with specific serial number ranges: PS6400 models with serial numbers between 71998 and 79250, and PS7900 models with serial numbers between 40156 and 43009. The chain saws have warm red housing with "DOLMAR" written on them, and the serial number can be found on the right side of the silver nameplate on the back of the fuel tank.
Chain saws with the letter "N" before the serial number and a blue dot on the shipping carton have already been repaired and are not part of this recall. Consumers who own affected chain saws should stop using them immediately and contact DOLMAR to arrange for a free repair. Known purchasers have been sent direct mail notification about this recall.

The recall involves DOLMAR PS6400 and PS7900-model chain saws in which the last five digits of the serial numbers are within the following ranges: Chain saw Model Serial Number Range PS6400 71998 through 79250 PS7900 40156 through 43009 The chain saw's housing is "warm red" with "DOLMAR" written on it. The chain saw's serial number can be found on the right hand side of the silver nameplate which is located on the back of the fuel tank. No other DOLMAR chain saws are involved in the recall. Any PS6400 or PS7900 chain saws with the letter "N" preceding the serial number on the nameplate and a blue dot on the shipping carton have been repaired and are not involved in the recall.
