Little Giant Pump Co. is recalling cooler pumps due to a fire hazard. The motor caps on these pumps are not made with flame-retardant material, and an internal electrical failure can cause the cap to ignite. The recalled pumps are used to circulate water in evaporative coolers that cool air in rooms or buildings. The affected units have light blue motor caps and include six models: CP1-115 (item 540005), CP1-230 (item 540015), CP2-115 (item 541005), CP2-230 (item 541015), CP3-115 (item 542005), and CP3-230 (item 542015). Cooler pumps with beige motor caps are not affected by this recall.
Consumers who own a recalled pump should stop using it immediately and contact Little Giant to receive a replacement cap and instructions at no charge. The model and item numbers can be found on a label on the motor cap.
