What happened

Progress Lighting is recalling linear fluorescent light fixtures intended for bathroom use that were manufactured between January 1998 and February 2003. The fixtures, available in 2-, 3-, and 4-foot lengths with ribbed plastic lens covers, have catalog numbers 717430-EBO, 717330-EBO, and 717230-EBO. The lamp holders in these fixtures can overheat, potentially causing the fixture to melt or catch fire.

Consumers who own affected fixtures should contact Progress Lighting for instructions on obtaining a free replacement fixture. The manufacturing date and catalog number can be found on the UL label located under the plastic lens of the fixture.
