Dorel Juvenile Group is recalling Cosco Arriva and Turnabout infant car seats/carriers due to a defect in the plastic handle locks. When these seats are used as carriers rather than car seats, the handle locks can unexpectedly break or release from the carrying position, causing the seat to unlatch or flip forward. This can result in an infant falling to the ground and suffering injuries. The recalled models include Arriva models 02-665, 02-727, 02-728, 02-729, 02-731, 02-732, 02-733, 02-750, 02-751, 02-755, 02-757, and 02-774, as well as Turnabout models 02-753, 02-756, 02-758, 02-759, 02-760, 02-761, 02-762, 02-763, 02-764, 02-765, 02-770, 02-771, and 02-772. The affected seats were manufactured on or before January 31, 2000, and the model number and manufacture date can be found on the instruction and warning label on the side of the car seat.
According to the recall notice, consumers who own affected car seats should stop using them as carriers immediately and contact Dorel Juvenile Group to receive a free repair kit. The seats can continue to be used as car seats. Consumers can locate their model number on the instruction and warning label on the side of the car seat to determine if their product is affected by the recall.

The recalled seats were manufactured on or before Jan. 31, 2000.
