RCA® 650-Watt Home Entertainment amplifiers
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Thomson and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have recalled certain RCA 650-Watt Home Entertainment amplifiers due to an overheating hazard. The affected models are RT2600, RT2600DVD, and RT2600DVD5 with serial numbers beginning with 220 through 230 (some models may also have an "A" as the last character). These silver amplifiers measure approximately 17 inches wide, 16 inches deep, and 5 inches high. The overheating results from insufficient ventilation and can cause the plastic front cover to melt, creating a shock hazard to consumers.
According to the recall notice, consumers should unplug the units immediately and contact Thomson for information on how to receive a free repair. Consumers can identify their unit by checking the label on the back of the amplifier in the lower left corner for the model and serial number.
