Safety Relief Valves
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Cavagna North America Inc. is recalling safety relief valves for large propane tanks due to a manufacturing defect. The recalled valves, model 66-1031 (approximately 7 inches long with "OMECA 66-1031" written on them), can develop sharp internal edges that may cut gasket seals, allowing propane gas to leak. This poses a risk of fire or burn injuries. The valves are designed for large propane tanks typically holding 500 to 1,000 gallons. Only valves with batch codes "99.02," "99.10," "99.16," "99.27," or "99.28" are affected; these valves were installed on tanks refurbished or manufactured after May 1999.
According to the recall announcement, propane gas users, LP tank owners, and LP distributors with recalled valves should immediately contact Cavagna to schedule an appointment to have the safety relief valve replaced at no charge.
