Is my product affected?

  • Brand Marin Mountain Bikes, of Novato, Calif.

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Marin Mountain Bikes is recalling certain aluminum-frame mountain bikes because the steer tube on the front can break off from the two main tubes of the frame. This defect can cause riders to lose control, fall, and suffer serious injury. The recall affects seven models with 11.5-inch frames (Bobcat Trail, Hawk Hill, Palisades Trail, Pioneer Trail, Nail Trail, Stinson, and Rocky Ridge) and one model with a 13.5-inch frame (Quake). You can identify the model name on the top tube of the bike and determine frame size by measuring from the center of the crank arm to about 1 inch below the seatpost clamp.

Consumers with recalled bikes should stop using them immediately and contact Marin Mountain Bikes to find out where to take their bikes for free frame replacement.
