Biddeford Textile Corp. has recalled electric blankets sold under the model names Controlled Comfort, EH 2000, Starbright, Staywarm, Supreme 21, and Warm Comfort with serial numbers A001A to C210C. The plug connecting the detachable control switch to the blanket can become loose, causing poor electrical contact that may overheat and create a fire hazard. The blankets were sold in multiple sizes (king, queen, double, and twin) and various colors including off-white, hunter green, light blue, navy blue, white, rose, plum, burgundy, French blue, sage green, teal, and rawhide. You can identify affected blankets by checking the label near where the control switch plugs in for the Biddeford Textile Corporation name, model name, and serial number.
Since Biddeford Textile Corporation is no longer in business, the recall remedy is unavailable. According to the recall notice, affected consumers should discard the product and not donate or resell it.
