Is my product affected?

Kidde plastic valve disposable fire extinguishers

  • Brand Walter Kidde Portable Equipment Company Inc., of Mebane, North Carolina

Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.

What happened

Kidde is recalling 31 models of disposable plastic fire extinguishers with Zytel® black plastic valves because a faulty valve component can prevent the extinguishers from fully discharging when the lever is repeatedly pressed and released during a fire emergency, creating an injury risk. The recalled extinguishers are red, white, or silver and are rated either ABC or BC. They were manufactured between July 23, 2013 and October 15, 2014. Consumers can identify recalled units by checking the 10-digit date code stamped on the cylinder's side near the bottom—specifically digits five through nine, which show the manufacturing date in DDDYY format. For 2013 units, the date code ranges from XXXX 20413 X through XXXX 36513 X, and for 2014 units from XXXX 00114 X through XXXX 28814 X. The model number appears on the nameplate affixed to the front of the extinguisher and includes models such as 10BC, 5BC, FA110, FC110, FX210, Twin Mariner, and others.

According to the record, consumers who have a recalled fire extinguisher should immediately contact Kidde for a replacement.
