What happened

Lifeguard Press is recalling seven models of charging kits sold under the Ban.do, Jonathan Adler, and Lilly Pulitzer brand names that were designed to recharge Apple devices. The kits include a wall charger, car charger, USB cord, and Lightning port adapter. The wall chargers are small plastic cubes with two metal prongs and pose two hazards: the charger can overheat and emit smoke and sparks, creating fire and burn risks, and the prongs can detach and remain in electrical outlets, posing electrical shock hazards.

The recalled models are Ban.do Power Trip Frills (14150111) and Power Trip Mermaid/Blush Stripe (14150118); Jonathan Adler Architectural Borders (140250) and Hudson (140252); and Lilly Pulitzer Beach Rose (143501), Mai Tai (78602), and Trippin and Sippin (143504). Consumers can identify their chargers by the brand name on the top front of the packaging and on the Lightning adapter, the model name on the bottom front of the packaging, and the item number on the back of the package in the bottom right corner. According to the recall, affected consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the USB wall charger and contact Lifeguard Press to return the charging kit for a full refund.

This recall involves seven models of charging kits with universal serial bus (USB) connectors that are used to recharge Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod devices. The recalled kits were sold under the Ban.do, Jonathan Adler and Lilly Pulitzer brand names and contained a wall charger, a 12 to 24-volt car charger, a 30-pin USB cord and a Lightning port adapter. The wall chargers are plastic cubes about 1 ¼ inches long, 1 inch wide and ½ inch tall with two metal prongs for plugging into an electrical outlet on one end and a USB port on the opposite end. Ban.do wall chargers came in the colors yellow and black and white stripe. Jonathan Adler wall chargers came in multicolor and blue and white patterns. Lilly Pulitzer wall chargers came in multicolor floral patterns.
