What happened

Sunbeam Products, Inc. is recalling Holmes brand oscillating ceramic heaters because they can overheat and create a fire hazard. The recalled heaters are rectangular units approximately 12 inches tall, 8½ inches wide, and 5½ inches deep, available in black, purple, red, blue, and white. They can be identified by the model number HCH1823M on a label on the bottom, the Holmes logo on the bottom front, and two control knobs on top for adjusting the fan and thermostat between high heat, low heat, and fan-only settings.

If you own one of these heaters, you should immediately stop using it, unplug it, and contact Sunbeam Products, Inc. for instructions on how to receive a full refund.

This recall involves Holmes oscillating ceramic heaters sold in black, purple, red, blue and white. The rectangular heaters included in the recall are about 12 inches tall, 8 ½ inches wide and 5 ½ inches deep and have model number HCH1823M printed on a label on the bottom of the product. The "Holmes" logo is on the bottom front of the unit and two knobs controlling the fan and the thermostat are on the top. The heater adjusts between a high and low heat setting and a fan only setting.
