Yamaha All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs)
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Yamaha is recalling 2012 Big Bear 400 ATVs because the front shock absorber can break apart, which may cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash. The recalled models are identified by model numbers YFM40FBBGR, YFM40FBBL, and YFM40FGBGR, found on the left and right side panels. The ATVs are blue, green, or camouflage colored with black gear racks on the front and back, and have "Yamaha Big Bear" written on both sides and the fuel tank. The year can be confirmed by checking the VIN stamped on the frame behind the front left wheel—a "C" in the 10th position indicates a 2012 model.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact their local Yamaha dealer to schedule a free repair. Yamaha is contacting registered owners directly.
