Klement's Sausage Company, Inc. is recalling approximately 1,689 pounds of beef and pork snack stick products due to possible contamination with foreign material. The recalled products are 1-ounce packages containing two pieces of Klement's Original Snack Sticks that were produced on May 13, 2016, with a sell-by date of November 16, 2017, and case code 3262. These items were distributed to vending distributors in Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The problem was discovered after a consumer complaint was filed on October 6, 2016, and testing found pieces of foreign material ranging from 1 to 4.88 millimeters in unopened packages. The company has received one report of an oral injury associated with these products.

WASHINGTON, Nov. 8, 2016 Klements Sausage Company, Inc., a Milwaukee, Wis. establishment, is recalling approximately 1,689 pounds of beef and pork products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The ready to eat beef and pork snack stick products were produced on May 13, 2016. The following products are subject to recall: [ View Label ] 1-oz. plastic packages containing 2 pieces of KLEMENTS ORIGINAL SNACK STICKS NATURALLY HARDWOOD SMOKED NO MSG ADDED GLUTEN FREE with a sell by date of 11-16-17 and case code of 3262. The products subject to recall bear establishment number EST. 2426B inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to vending distributors in Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The problem was discovered on October 6, 2016, when a consumer complaint was filed to the FSIS Des Moines District Office. The Des Moines District Office was notified and began an investigation. The FSIS Eastern Laboratory found several additional pieces of foreign material ranging in size from 1 to 4.88 mm in other unopened packages. The company has received one report of an oral injury associated with consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers.
