ATM International USA, Inc., a California company, recalled approximately 1,999 pounds of boneless beef products imported from Japan between October 9, 2014, and January 15, 2015, because the products were not presented for inspection at the U.S. point of entry as required. The beef came in various cuts including tenderloin, strip loin, ribeye, chuck roll, and sirloin, packaged in vacuum-sealed containers with Japanese-only labels. The products were shipped to distributors and retail locations in Arizona, California, and Washington.
The recall was issued because without full inspection, there is a possibility of adverse health consequences. The problem was discovered during a routine review of product tracking records. No reports of illness or adverse reactions from consuming these products have been received. The record does not specify a remedy for affected consumers, but directs those with concerns about a reaction to contact a healthcare provider, and those with general questions to contact the company or the USDA.
