What happened

American Beverage Corp. is recalling Big Burst Fruit Punch Drink in 16 oz PET plastic bottles with sports caps due to a potential hazard with the nozzle cap. A part of the nozzle cap can become dislodged if the bottle is excessively chewed, and the dislodged part could potentially be ingested, posing a health and safety risk. The affected cap design is no longer used by the company and was last produced in September 2011. The company does not anticipate finding any affected product still in the market.

The recalled products were distributed nationwide, with 250,000 cases affected in total. Only bottles with a "best buy" or expiration date earlier than September 24, 2012, and bearing UPC 073798001030 are included in this recall.
