What happened

Roche Diagnostics Operations, Inc. is recalling 78 Cobas 8000 Modular Analyzer Series analyzers distributed nationwide. The recalled devices have a defect in the cobas c 701 and cobas c 702 modules where a mismatch between reagent probe positioning and aspirated reagent volumes can lead to insufficient reagent pipetting under certain conditions. This defect may affect the accuracy of patient sample and control recovery for several clinical tests, including Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP2), Alanine Aminotransferase (ALT), Bicarbonate (CO2-L), Creatinine, C-Reactive Protein, and Urea/BUN.

The recall affects specific serial numbers and catalog numbers for reagent kits used with these analyzers. The affected devices were distributed across multiple states including California, Florida, New York, Texas, and others. The source document does not specify a remedy or corrective action for affected consumers.
