What happened

Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2018-2020 Freightliner Cascadia vehicles because the ABS Electronic Control Unit may fail to detect a malfunctioning solenoid valve during certain low voltage start conditions. When this occurs, the ABS/ESC malfunction warning light does not illuminate. Without this alert, drivers may not realize the vehicle's anti-lock braking and electronic stability control systems are not functioning properly, which increases the risk of a crash.

To address this issue, DTNA dealers will reprogram the ABS/ESC module for affected vehicles at no charge. The recall began on December 2, 2019. Owners of affected vehicles should contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 to arrange service, and should reference recall number FL-830.

Hazard

Without the alert, an operator may not be aware of an active ABS/ESC malfunction and unknowingly operate the vehicle with reduced ABS/ESC function, increasing the risk of a crash.

What should I do?

DTNA will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the ABS/ESC module, free of charge. The recall began December 2, 2019. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA's number for this recall is FL-830.
