Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2015-2019 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner C2 and Saf-T-Liner HDX school buses equipped with specific Titanium Wheelchair Lift models (K200, K201, K550, K551, S200, S2201, S550, and S551). A positioning input cam in the wheelchair lift may fail during use, causing the lift platform to stop higher than the vehicle's floor. This creates a hazard where a wheelchair user could tip inward toward the vehicle when exiting the lift.
To remedy this issue, dealers will replace the injection molded cam with an aluminum machined cam at no cost. The recall began December 6, 2018. Owners of affected buses should contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712 to schedule the replacement, referencing recall number FL785.
