What happened

Van-Con, Inc. is recalling certain 2007-2017 Dual Rear Wheel school buses built on Chevrolet 3500 Express chassis. The seat barrier located behind the driver seat may be pinned to the bulkhead in a way that prevents it from deforming during an impact, which increases the risk of injury to occupants. These vehicles do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 222 regarding school bus passenger seating and crash protection.

Van-Con will notify owners and reposition the barrier as necessary at no charge. The recall began on December 19, 2017. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Van-Con customer service at 1-732-356-8484.
