Volkswagen Group of America is recalling certain 2017 Audi Q7 vehicles manufactured between August 30, 2015, and May 8, 2016, because a software issue in the air bag control module may cause the frontal air bags to deploy with excessive force during certain crashes. This defect increases the risk of injury to vehicle occupants and violates federal safety standards.
To remedy this issue, Volkswagen will notify owners and dealers will update the air bag control module software at no charge. Affected owners should contact Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 and reference recall number 69O3 to arrange the free software update.

Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (Volkswagen) is recalling certain 2017 Audi Q7 vehicles manufactured August 30, 2015, to May 8, 2016. Due to a software issue within the air bag control module, the frontal air bags may deploy with more force than required in certain crashes. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
