TAKATA SSI-20 SIDE INFLATOR
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Takata is recalling certain seat-mounted side air bag inflators (SSI-20 design type) manufactured between December 13, 2014 and December 14, 2014. A suspected manufacturing error may have caused unusually high pressures in these inflators during deployment, which could make them rupture and send metal fragments into the passenger compartment, potentially causing serious injury or death to occupants.
Vehicle manufacturers using these inflators are contacting owners to have dealers replace the affected inflators at no cost. General Motors vehicles are covered under recall 15V-666 and Volkswagen vehicles are covered under recall 16V-045. Affected consumers should await contact from their vehicle manufacturer regarding replacement.
