2014 MITSUBISHI MIRAGE; 2015 MITSUBISHI MIRAGE
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Mitsubishi Motors North America is recalling certain 2014-2015 Mitsubishi Mirage vehicles manufactured between July 27, 2013, and September 2, 2015. The issue involves corrosion of a wiring connector located in a junction box behind the driver's side kick panel. If a driver enters the vehicle with wet, salt-covered feet, water and salt can seep through the carpet and corrode this connector. In a crash, this corrosion could delay deployment of the frontal air bags, increasing the risk of injury to the driver and front seat passenger.
Mitsubishi will notify owners of affected vehicles, and dealers will inspect the corroded connectors at no charge. Any corroded connectors will be replaced, and a waterproof sheet will be installed over the connectors to prevent future corrosion. The recall was expected to begin in February 2016. Owners of potentially affected vehicles should contact Mitsubishi Motors North America customer service at 1-888-648-7820 or reference recall number SR-16-001.
