What happened

Dodgen Industries is recalling certain Mobility RVs from model years 2006-2014 and specific Ricon wheelchair lift models installed in those vehicles. The recalled lifts have folding link arms with pivot holes that are too large, which can allow bearings to shift out of position. If this happens, the stowed wheelchair lift platform can move excessively and fail, potentially causing the platform to fall out of the vehicle when doors are opened, posing an injury risk to the lift operator.

Dodgen will notify owners, and Ricon dealers will inspect the link arms for damage or displaced bearings and check the platform for cracks. Any damaged parts will be replaced at no charge. Owners should contact Dodgen customer service at 1-515-332-3755 or Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884. The recall began December 1, 2015. Notably, vehicles that received a similar recall remedy in 2014 are still affected by this recall and should contact dealers for inspection.

Hazard

If the bearings move out of position, the stowed platform may have excessive movement resulting in failure of the platform mounting. This failure could cause the wheel chair lift platform to fall out of the vehicle when the doors are opened, increasing the risk of injury for the lift operator.

What should I do?
