Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
BMW of North America is recalling certain model year 2005-2011 BMW motorcycles because the rear wheel mounting flange may crack if the rear wheel mounting bolts are over tightened. If the flange cracks, the mounting bolts may loosen and the rear wheel may not remain secured to the motorcycle, which could cause a loss of stability and increase the risk of a crash. The affected models include various R1200, R1200GS, R1200RT, R1200R, R1200S, R1200ST, K1200, K1300, and HP2 series motorcycles from model years 2005 through 2011.
BMW will notify owners of the recall, which began on May 7, 2015. Dealers will replace the existing aluminum rear wheel flange with a steel one at no charge to the owner. Owners of affected motorcycles should contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
