Honda is recalling certain 2001-2006 model year Honda and Acura vehicles that were originally sold or registered in high-humidity areas including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Saipan, Guam, and American Samoa. The passenger side frontal air bag inflator in these vehicles may rupture during deployment in a crash, potentially sending metal fragments toward occupants and causing serious injury or death.
Honda will notify owners, and authorized dealers will replace the passenger side air bag inflator at no charge. The recall began January 26, 2015. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009.

Specifically, vehicles sold, or ever registered, in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Saipan, Guam, and American Samoa are addressed by this recall. Upon deployment of the passenger side frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.
