What happened

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2013-2014 Mobility-modified Ford E-150 and E-250 transit buses manufactured between December 1, 2013, and January 4, 2014, that are equipped with certain Ricon S series and K series wheelchair lifts with an optional armored pendant cable. The cable may be positioned in a way that causes it to contact the power lug on the lift. If the cable lacks a nonconductive cover or has an improperly installed cover, this contact could cause a short circuit that may result in a fire.

Mobility will notify owners about the recall, and Ricon will send affected owners a supplemental cover kit and instructions at no charge. Owners of affected vehicles can contact Mobility customer service at 1-800-769-8267 or Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884, or email recall.admin@wabtec.com. The recall began on June 4, 2014.

Hazard
