Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
BMW is recalling certain 2008-2010 528i, 535i, 550i, and M5 passenger cars manufactured between March 1, 2007, and December 31, 2009. The recalled vehicles may develop increased electrical resistance at the taillight connector, which can damage the ground terminal and cause one or more rear lamp functions—including tail lights, brake lights, turn signals, and reverse lights—to stop working intermittently or permanently.
When rear lights fail to operate properly, other motorists may not receive proper warning of the vehicle's braking or turning intentions, which increases the risk of a crash. BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear lamp bulb carriers at no cost. Owners of affected vehicles should contact BMW customer relations at 1-800-525-7417 or email CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.
