What happened

Micro Bird, Inc. is recalling certain 2011 and 2012 Micro Bird G5 school buses manufactured between April 1, 2011, and June 26, 2012, that are equipped with ProLo roof escape hatches. The ProLo hatches have increased friction in their rear plate assemblies and nylon pop-up supports, which may cause the opening force to exceed Federal safety standards. This defect could hinder emergency egress and potentially result in injury to vehicle occupants.

Affected owners will be notified by Micro Bird. Specialty Manufacturing, Inc. will provide service kits and repair instructions free of charge to dealers and owners. Owners may contact Micro Bird at 1-819-477-2012 or Specialty Manufacturing, Inc. at 1-800-951-7867 for additional information.
