2012 BLUE BIRD ALL AMERICAN; 2012 BLUE BIRD VISION
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Blue Bird Corporation is recalling certain 2012 All American and Vision non-school buses manufactured between May 20, 2011, and October 20, 2012, that are equipped with SMI Prolo roof hatches. The roof hatches have a defect involving increased friction between internal components that causes the opening force to exceed federal safety standards. This means the emergency exit hatches may not open properly in an emergency, potentially hindering passenger evacuation and resulting in injuries.
To remedy the issue, SMI will provide service kits and repair instructions to dealers and owners at no charge. Owners of affected buses should contact Blue Bird at 1-478-822-2242 or SMI at 1-800-951-7867 to arrange for the free repairs. The recall notification process began on June 21, 2012.
