What happened

Spartan is recalling certain 2010 and 2011 incomplete recreational vehicle chassis manufactured between January 4, 2010, and January 26, 2011, that are equipped with specific electronic control modules. These vehicles have a cruise control defect where the system may not cancel when the brake is applied, and the vehicle speed may increase unintentionally to the governed speed without the driver's input.

This defect creates a safety hazard because drivers may experience reduced vehicle control when attempting to disengage cruise control or when unexpectedly encountering increased speed. Spartan will notify owners and repair the vehicles at no charge. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Spartan at 1-517-543-6400.

Hazard

IF THE DRIVER ATTEMPTS TO CANCEL THE CRUISE CONTROL BY APPLYING THE BRAKE OR IF THE VEHICLE SPEED INCREASES AND THE DRIVER IS UNAWARE, THEY MAY HAVE REDUCED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

What should I do?

SPARTAN WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REPAIR THE VEHICLES FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 9, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SPARTAN AT 1-517-543-6400.
