2012 BLUE BIRD ALL AMERICAN; 2012 BLUE BIRD VISION
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Blue Bird is recalling certain model year 2012 All American and Vision school buses manufactured between August 2, 2011, and September 14, 2011, that are equipped with Spectal Industries vertical emergency exit windows. The recalled buses may have incorrect rivets used to attach the handles on these emergency exit windows. If the handle is actuated during a non-emergency situation, it could detach, making it impossible to re-secure the emergency window and creating a risk that children could fall or climb out. However, if the handle detaches during an actual emergency, the exit window will still open and allow occupants to exit through it.
Blue Bird will notify owners and provide repair kits at no charge, with the recall expected to begin on or about November 14, 2011. Owners of affected buses should contact Blue Bird at 1-478-822-2242 to receive their repair kits.
