Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. is recalling certain 2011 Ninja ZX-10R and ZX-10R ABS motorcycles because a portion of the wiring harness can become pinched between the rear subframe and the rear fender, or between the rear subframe and the bolt holding the seat cover. This pinching can damage the wiring and cause a short circuit that may result in the engine stopping suddenly while the motorcycle is being ridden, which could cause a crash resulting in injury or death.
To remedy this issue, Kawasaki dealers will repair the motorcycle as necessary and reroute the main harness free of charge. The safety recall began on July 25, 2011. Owners of affected motorcycles should contact Kawasaki Consumer Services Department at 1-866-802-9381.
