2011 KIA SORENTO
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Kia America is recalling certain 2011 Sorento 2WD vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions and 2.4L engines that were manufactured from the start of production through May 22, 2010. These vehicles have an intermediate shaft that may become misaligned with the right side output gear, causing noise and excessive wear. If drivers continue operating the vehicle in this condition, a whirring or whining noise may develop, and the automatic transmission can eventually be damaged, potentially resulting in loss of motive power and an increased risk of a crash.
Kia dealers will replace the right side output gear and intermediate shaft at no cost. The recall was expected to begin in May 2011. Owners of affected vehicles should contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542.
