What happened

Mercedes-Benz USA is recalling certain 2002-2010 G-Class vehicles because the front turn signal lights may have reduced visibility to other motorists over time. The issue stems from a grill cover designed to protect the front turn signals, which can impact the signal's ability to meet federal safety standards, increasing the risk of a crash.

To remedy the problem, dealers will install improved turn light units that are optimized for use with the grills at no cost to owners. According to the recall notice, affected consumers should contact Mercedes-Benz at 1-800-367-6372.
