Metal Fabrication, Inc. has recalled certain model year 2010 boat trailers equipped with brake systems manufactured between August 11, 2009 and January 26, 2010. The recalled trailers have a brake actuator on the tongue that may have a misaligned brake solenoid, which can cause interference between the solenoid and the actuator housing. This misalignment may result in leakage of brake fluid and/or the presence of air in brake lines, preventing the brakes from operating as intended and increasing the risk of a crash.
According to the recall notice, dealers will inspect and test the brake system free of charge. The safety recall began on May 3, 2010. Owners of affected trailers should contact Metal Fabrication Customer Service at 931-962-0025.
