What happened

Citroën is recalling multiple passenger car models including the Berlingo, C3, C3 Picasso, C4 Cactus, C4 Picasso, DS3, DS4, DS5, C-Elysée, and Spacetour/Jumpy 4 due to a defect in the timing belt. The teeth on the timing belt may wear off prematurely when the vehicle operates in dusty conditions due to excessive dynamic tension. This premature wear can cause the engine to stall at high speeds and fail to restart, which increases the risk of accidents. The affected vehicles do not comply with motor vehicle approval and market surveillance requirements.

Hazard

The teeth of the timing belt may wear off prematurely due to excessive dynamic tension in dusty conditions. The product does not meet the requirements laid down in the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.
