Heavy jacket - Diffusion
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Diffusion women's velvet jackets (model articles 9813 and 9815) are being recalled due to contamination with Hexavalent Chromium at levels of 1.6 to 14.1 mg/kg. According to the Oeko Tex Standard 100, acceptable chromium content should be below 1 mg/kg for children's clothing and below 2 mg/kg for other clothing, with Chromium VI ideally undetectable. The presence of Hexavalent Chromium at these concentrations poses a serious risk of allergic contact dermatitis in consumers, particularly because the jackets will be in direct contact with skin for extended periods, similar to leather goods where clinical studies show 50% of sensitive individuals experienced contact dermatitis at comparable exposure levels.
The recalled items include a women's purple velvet jacket with a metallic zipper and snaps (article 9813) and a women's brown velvet jacket with a metallic zipper and snaps (article 9815). Both feature beige labels and swing tickets printed with the brand name and "Diffusion." The authorities in Italy, the notifying country, have ordered seizure of the products. The source does not specify what consumers should do if they own an affected jacket.

The product poses a chemical risk because it contains Hexavalent Chromium, in concentrations varying from 1.6 to 14.1 mg/kg. Given that Oeko Tex Standard 100 states that, to ensure optimum quality, total chromium content should be less than 1 mg/kg for children’s clothing and less than 2 mg/kg for all other clothing, regardless of whether it is in contact with the skin, and that Chromium VI should actually be below the detection threshold, we feel a limit of 5 mg/kg of Chromium VI is a practical threshold beyond which there is a serious risk of allergic contact dermatitis. In support of this, there are clinical studies which indicate that, for leather goods, 50% of sensitive subjects experienced contact dermatitis at this level. By analogy, and given that these articles will be in direct contact with the skin for possibly an entire working day, we believe that they pose a serious risk of allergy to consumers.
