What happened

This radio-controlled toy car by Brother Toys (model NO.8233) poses multiple electrical hazards. The battery charger has a non-standardized plug with exposed live pins that can cause electric shock, and it lacks required age symbols, safety instructions, and warnings. Additionally, the removable, interchangeable batteries can short-circuit both in the toy car's battery holder and in the remote control's battery holder, causing the contacts to overheat significantly. The charger cover can also overheat during abnormal use, creating a fire risk. The product does not meet the Low Voltage Directive or European safety standards EN-60335 and EN-50088.

Authorities in Hungary have ordered the product withdrawn from the market and recalled from consumers. The recall affects packages containing the toy car (Scale 1:18, 40 MHz frequency, item number "SPEEDY RACER NO:8233"), a Gers Electronics charger (model GS-104823E), a "TOP RACER SUPERIOR POWERED SPEED" remote control, four AA Ni-Cd batteries, and one 9V dry battery. The source does not specify what remedy affected consumers should pursue.
