IK and LD brand laser pointers with model numbers MT-S0510260 (serial number 2008108) and serial number 2006108 have been recalled because they contain Class 3A lasers that can damage eyesight. The danger applies to direct laser beams or beams reflected off reflective surfaces that strike an unprotected eye. Although the products are labeled as "Class IIIA Laser Product," Class 3 laser pointers should not be sold to consumers, and these products do not meet the European standard EN 60825.
The recalled pointers are silver-colored devices with black flexible light heads and come in blue cardboard boxes measuring approximately 21x3.5x2.3 cm when packaged. The laser operates on three 1.5V AG13 button cells, and the LED light has a magnet in the bottom. Authorities have ordered these products withdrawn from the market.
