What happened

The Möller Professional angle grinder (model MR/AG230-120) poses multiple safety hazards and has been ordered withdrawn from the market and recalled from consumers. The product creates risks of electric shock because the electrical strength decreases during heating and the main cable dimensions do not meet requirements, potentially causing cable damage. The angle grinder also presents a fire hazard, as it caught fire and burned during testing at rated power. Additionally, the design of the terminals and switch location make the appliance unreliable and dangerous to operate, creating injury risks to users. The product fails to comply with the Machinery Directive and European standard EN 60745.

The affected product is a motor-driven angle grinder with a plastic-covered motor, two plastic grips (one fixed and one adjustable), and an iron-plate protective shield. Authorities have ordered the product's withdrawal from the market and consumer recall, though the exact enforcement date is unknown. The recall source does not specify what remedy consumers should pursue.
