Decorative candles
Check against the official notice below — it lists the full affected range.
Inart decorative candles shaped like small tarts with fruit toppings are being recalled because they pose a choking hazard to children. The candles, which measure approximately 4.5 cm in diameter and height, resemble real food so closely that children may mistake them for edible tarts, put them in their mouths, or swallow pieces of them. This could result in choking or blockage of the digestive tract. The product comes in packages of nine candles in a transparent box with a brown cardboard base and decorative bow.
Authorities have ordered these candles withdrawn from the market. The recall was initiated in Greece. The recall notice does not specify what action affected consumers should take regarding products they may already own.

The product poses a risk of choking as, due to the characteristic form, appearance, colour and size, this product may be mistaken for a foodstuff (small tarts). This may lead children to put it in their mouth, cut it into pieces and swallow it, which could entail the risk of asphyxia or obstruction of the digestive tract. The product does not comply with the Directive 87/357/EEC on products which, appearing to be other than they are, endanger the health or safety of consumers.
