Chariot Carriers has recalled certain bicycle trailers and conversion kits because their hitch mechanisms can crack and break, causing the trailer to detach from the bicycle while in use. This detachment poses an injury hazard to children riding in the trailer. The recalled trailers have serial numbers ranging from 1205-xxxx to 0710-xxxx (representing manufacture dates from December 2005 through July 2010) located on the left side of the frame. Recalled conversion kits include those with model number "20100503" printed on a label attached to the aluminum tube next to the warning label, as well as older conversion kits without a label but with a release push button where the hitch arm inserts into the carrier.
Consumers who have recalled bicycle trailers or conversion kits should immediately stop using them and contact Chariot Carriers to request a free repair kit. The company will provide the repair kit for consumers to install themselves.
