Black & Decker is recalling CRAFTSMAN Model CMECSP610 10-inch corded chain saws with extension poles due to a hazard where the chain saw can start unexpectedly without the switch being operated. This unexpected starting can occur when the extension cord adaptor is connected upside down, creating a laceration hazard to the user. The recalled chain saws are red with black and gray accents, have "CRAFTSMAN" printed on the cutting bar and motor end cap, and are identified by model number CMECSP610 on a label on top of the motor. Only chain saws manufactured with date codes between 2019-40 and 2020-35 are affected; the date code is laser etched on the underside of the handle base.
According to the recall record, consumers who own an affected chain saw should immediately stop using it and contact CRAFTSMAN for a free repair kit.
